Sustainable Service Housing Ecosystem

New growth and business potential can be found by developing and piloting novel solutions and technologies relating to smart and sustainable living and housing. In this case to senior service housing and its solutions regarding interior design, safety, health, and communication. Strong systemic design know-how and service design know-how in particular is needed when entire service systems and service hybrids are being designed to guarantee successful user experience, unobstructed and ergonomic interiors, easy user interface usability, and suitability of technical solutions for the target group.
There is a growing market for private service housing due to an increase in the numbers of seniors and a decrease in housing and care provided by the councils. Service housing contains a large number of special aspects that need to taken into consideration already in the planning phase as they affect the building solutions, operation costs,functionality, well-being of the residents, ecological sustainability, etc. Therefore it also offers a big business potential for the local SMEs, including construction companies, healthcare, and well-being service providers, ICT firms, interior and garden designers as well as cultural operators, and the third sector.
In this project LAB together with the network of different types of companies will design and build pilot demo spaces that create new service housing-related solutions and thus help the SMEs to grow their business. A common ecosystem will strengthen the service housing and senior living know-how regarding product and service development for both the SMEs and universities in the region and create a framework for further RDI cooperation. There are 4 work packages to reach this goal. In WP 1 and WP 2 the ecosystem, pilots, and virtual demo spaces will be planned and designed. In WP 3 a real physical test environment will be built and in WP 4 the solutions, possible new service, and cooperation models developed will be presented.
As a result, there will be a public material bank on solutions relating to ecological and low-carbon living and digital service solutions for service housing. The established regional ecosystem and developer network creates new innovations and new business. The constructed test and demonstration environments (both virtual and physical) serves and is available for all the businesses in the region during the project and after it.
